Locks=FAIL

This weekend I decided that I am not going to let my braids lock up. Why? Because they aren't progressing well.

1. They're too small
2. My hair is growing out excessively (yay) and it does not look well
3. I have yet to have a retightening...no twist or latch....(NOT good)
4. Work, work, and more work

I am going to continue with my natural hair, just not locks, not yet. If at some point in the future I decided that I want locks again, they will most definitely be bigger!.

Braidlocs Installed!

I'm finally updating this blog. Well after contemplating for a longg while, I decided to start my locs using braids.

Since the last post, I have had kinky twists and they grew my hair a lot. After a break of about three or four days, I installed braids. I wanted to use my hair only, but with my hair texture, my braids would just NOT stay down; therefore, there are extensions on the ends of my braids...I don't think it's very noticeable, does anyone else??

Well after my hair starts to grow out, i'll begin cutting off the extensions. I was too lazy to count my braids, so in a later post I will say how many I have. My hair was braided courtesy of my aunt over the course of two days. 12pm to 8pm Sunday, and 12pm to about 10:30pm Monday. I am very happy with the results. I will keep updating, I'm not sure how often though. I have so much to do and so little time to do it. (ACT on Sunday, pray for me please!!!)

The photos I will post will be of my kinky twists, my hair after the kinky twists (installed early in February and removed on April 1st), and then the newly installed braids. I am so excited!! This is definitely going to make me a more patient person.

Until next time ^_^

Photos of My hair

Here are just a few photos of my hair. Natural and not so natural...these are all pretty recent. The ones of my hair were taken today actually. As you can see my hair is very coarse...this is after loosing out a few flat twists that were in my hair and not completely combing it out. My hair is coarse like this after relaxer has grown out and been chopped (when I was a child...or younger rather, my hair was long and it could fall...a blow out would straighten it...Ha! like that would work now). Anyway, I will not be getting any type of straight again, because I'm learning to just accept my natural beauty. I'll be glad to quit fake hair soon, it's pretty but I hate it, makes my head about three pounds heavier.

Well more later...as I continue to look for things that will look nice on my short hair (btw, hair grows weird...very short all around, middle is longer). Later....Shem

No more chemichttp://www.blogger.com/posts.g?blogID=84261521348605531als, no more heat

Hey everyone...well today is January 27, 2010 (hey Ray's birthday).
I'm Shemira and I am now sixteen, and recently, after years of chemical and heat straightening my hair, I've decided to stay natural. I've been natural for a while now, wearing extensions/weaves (not tracks) occasionally. I'm looking for ways to care for my natural hair without fakes, and I am really considering locking after extensive research. I finally decided I'm dedicated enough to do it, trouble is I want something small and versatile. Bradelocz are at the top of my list, because sisterlocks are way out of my budget...

If anyone has any ideas for caring for natural hair besides locking or a specific type of locking (that is small or micro) please let me know. I'll go into details a little later!
